Correct your vision with PRESBYLASIK
Refractive surgery can correct vision problems such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism, or presbyopia, by reshaping the cornea to provide clear vision without glasses or contact lenses. In just a few minutes, you will notice improved vision and regain complete freedom.
PRESBYLASIK: The Tailored Solution for Presbyopia
PRESBYLASIK is an advanced refractive surgery technique specifically designed to correct presbyopia while also treating, if needed, other vision problems such as astigmatism, myopia, or hyperopia. This laser procedure offers an effective and lasting alternative to reading glasses or multifocal contact lenses.
Thanks to precise reshaping of the cornea, PRESBYLASIK allows patients to regain clear vision at all distances — near, far, and intermediate — by reducing their reliance on optical devices.
This technique offers a modern solution for those who struggle with wearing multifocal glasses for extended periods or experience discomfort while reading.
Free Eligibility Appointment
We welcome you to our PHENICIA VISION center in Marseille for a comprehensive and free assessment to determine if refractive surgery (LASIK, PKR, or SMILE) is suitable for you.
The PRESBYLASIK Procedure
The PRESBYLASIK procedure takes less than 10 minutes per eye. Performed under local anesthetic eye drops, it uses a femtosecond laser to create a flap, and an excimer laser to correct the refractive error by reshaping the cornea and creating different focusing zones. This allows for optimal vision correction at all distances.
PRESBYLASIK works on the surface without deep incisions.
This technique can also be combined with a monovision or corneal multifocality strategy, depending on the patient's profile.
Multifocality relies on a progressive distribution of focus zones on the corneal surface.
Monovision involves correcting one eye for distance vision and the other for near vision, with a shift between the two eyes depending on the distance.
Only 10 min in the operating room
1 – Local anesthesia with eye drops
Your eye is numbed with anesthetic drops, ensuring a completely painless procedure.
2 – Creating the Corneal Flap with the Femtosecond Laser
You will be asked to focus on a light while the surgeon precisely creates a corneal flap using the Femtosecond Laser.
3 – Reshaping the Cornea with the Excimer Laser for Precise Vision Correction
Once the corneal flap is lifted, the Excimer Laser is used to reshape the cornea and correct your vision.
4 – Repositioning the Corneal Flap
The corneal flap is then repositioned to allow for natural healing.
This procedure is completely painless. It can correct conditions such as presbyopia, astigmatism, myopia, or hyperopia in a single operation. Some patients who have already had cataract surgery also choose LASIK to refine their vision correction.

Eligibility Assessment - Eye Laser Surgery
Every journey begins with a thorough eye examination. During this consultation, the doctor assesses the health of your cornea, your visual acuity, and your entire ocular system.
This assessment includes
- An evaluation of near, far, and intermediate vision
- Corneal topography and a measurement of visual field depth
- An examination of the lens, history of cataracts, and other eye disorders
- An analysis of prolonged contact lens or glasses wear
- A tear film assessment and an oculomotor assessment
- Anterior and posterior OCT
- Retinography
- A fundus examination
Our ophthalmic surgeons explain in detail the PresbyLASIK surgical technique, specifically designed to correct presbyopia while considering your visual needs.
PresbyLASIK is recommended for patients over 40 who wish to reduce their reliance on reading and distance glasses, depending on the stability of their correction and their visual comfort.
Each surgeon assesses the feasibility of the PresbyLASIK procedure, taking into account individual specificities: corneal condition, medical history, and patient expectations.

Our approach aims to limit risks and provide you with comprehensive information on the various stages of the procedure.
After the procedure: Rapid recovery
- Clear vision in a few hours.
- Resumption of activities the very next day.
- Post-operative follow-up on day 1 to ensure optimal healing.
Results that last
- LASIK offers reliable and long-lasting vision correction.
- A high satisfaction rate.
- Visual acuity of 20/20 or better, within the first few weeks.
Results: stable and lasting correction
The PRESBYLASIK surgery offers rapid recovery, with vision generally clearer within 24 to 48 hours. Daily activities can be resumed as early as the next day, although a gradual visual adjustment may be needed for intermediate vision. Moisturizing eye drops are often prescribed to reduce feelings of dryness, and careful post-operative follow-up ensures healing and stable results. This technique reduces, or even eliminates, the need for glasses for reading and close-up screens, while simultaneously correcting other vision problems and ensuring lasting visual independence. It can also be offered after cataract surgery to refine vision correction. Finally, depending on the patient's profile, it can be an alternative to other treatments like PRK or PRELEX. Using the excimer laser, a technology already proven in many refractive procedures, PRESBYLASIK represents a reliable and lasting solution for regaining quality vision.
PKR, LASIK, which solution is right for you?
Every eye is unique. That's why our doctors take the time to guide you towards the most suitable technique, whether it's LASIK, PKR, or a combined treatment (especially after cataract surgery). Certain conditions, such as keratoconus, may require specific techniques. LASIK is often recommended for its precision, but PKR remains an excellent alternative for patients with thin corneas or a history of eye surgery.

FAQ: PRESBYLASIK
What is the PRESBYLASIK technique?
PRESBYLASIK is a type of refractive surgery that uses an excimer laser. It is designed to correct presbyopia and other potential vision problems such as astigmatism, myopia, or hyperopia. The procedure reshapes the cornea to restore functional vision for near, far, and intermediate distances.
Who can benefit from PRESBYLASIK?
Anyone around 45 years old suffering from presbyopia. A comprehensive eye exam is essential to determine suitability, especially in cases of cataracts, previous eye surgeries, or prolonged contact lens wear.
How does the procedure work?
The surgical procedure lasts about 15 minutes per eye, performed under local anesthesia. The excimer laser reshapes the cornea by creating multiple focal zones, which improves vision at all distances.
This treatment also adapts to the cornea's unique shape to prevent unwanted side effects.
Is the procedure painful?
No. Thanks to anesthetic eye drops, the procedure is painless. You might experience slight discomfort or dryness for a short period. These post-operative effects are temporary.
As with any eye surgery, proper post-operative care is crucial to prevent complications.
How long is the recovery period?
Visual recovery is fast. Most patients regain normal vision within a few days. An adaptation period for intermediate vision may be needed, particularly with monovision or multifocality.
Your eyes will gradually learn to work together, and this process can vary from one patient to another.
What is the recovery time after LASIK?
Vision recovery is very quick: most patients achieve satisfactory vision by the next day. Progressive improvement continues over the following days. Returning to work and daily activities is often possible within 24 hours after the operation, unless there is a specific medical reason not to.
Is the laser precise?
Yes. The Teneo excimer laser adjusts in real-time using eye tracking technology.
Combined with the SIRIUS system, it ensures a precise and safe treatment.
This type of treatment is also used in other procedures like PRK or LASIK, delivering excellent visual results.
Will I need to wear glasses after the surgery?
The aim is to eliminate the need for reading glasses. However, depending on your age or the progression of your presbyopia, a minimal correction might be needed in the long term.
Advantages over other treatments?
Compared to implants, monovision (a specific technique), or PRELEX (a type of implant used when the natural lens is clear), PresbyLASIK offers stable correction without an intraocular foreign body.
